The SMALLEST ROOM in the house, your powder room can often get overlooked design wise. Some people just put any colour in there, keeping it neutral and not always very exciting. I say it can have more pizazz, be more dramatic and make a statement. It's a room that you and all your guests will use so why not be daring and try something maybe you are afraid to try on a larger scale in another room. With the comeback of wallpaper, the powder room is a perfect place to try bold pattern. If wallpaper isn't your thing then go for a stronger paint colour or add some stripes. I just finished up my own "smallest room" the colour I had in there was the same as in my family room but as we know lighting makes a big difference and it looked more drab and dull in that confined space. I have been wanting to try some large horizontal stripes all around the room so I chose a soft neutral and a deep brown that I have as an accent colour on my fireplace. The "taping expert" (otherwise known as my husband) taped the stripes for me after I had applied the neutral base coat to cover my original colour. Then I added "French Toast" (AF-170 by Benjamin Moore). I love it it looks bold and sharp. My next project is to change the lighting, the original fixture has just one light and I would like at least two or three and a bit more sparkle. I'm also working on an art piece for it. Check out the before and after pics!
Even if you don't paint or paper, think about changing your lighting or just adding a glamorous mirror.
