My family and friends will tell you, I love to take photographs and I am hardly ever without a camera in my hand. I need to have pictures of everything we do, from everyday moments to special occasions. I make scrapbooks, home made cards and art using my precious memories. It's a great way to preserve and share anything important. However photography can be used in our interiors and sometimes even exteriors to create interest, add colour and a focal point not just history. I like to use my own images but if that's not your thing there are many amazing photographers out there to snap something for you personally or just provide you with a gallery of art to choose from. A great example is Shutterstock. You can frame these images, put them on canvas, make smaller pictures into posters. Use them individually or group them together depending on your space or the impact you need. Here are some examples I found. Recently I added some new photos to my walls, I had a couple of images from family trips enlarged to 12x12 at Costco. They cost me pennies. I bought two new large shadowbox frames at IKEA in the AS-IS for $30 total. I also created a gallery wall using different sized images, in frames all white but an assortment of sizes and shapes. These frames also came from IKEA bought over the period of a month. Adding a few at a time. On the gallery wall I also included a salvaged letter which I spray painted from Tin Barn Market, one of my favourite spots to visit and shop and an original piece of art by my daughter. Next time you take a great picture think about showing it off and put it up on your wall. Find a new frame at your favourite store, or re- purpose an old one by changing the colour. Take a look at local goodwill stores, at garage sales or flea markets for something with history to add further interest to your photos. Take out your camera and get snapping!
