Our inspiration from Tin Barn Market
Any excuse I have to get together with friends and DIY, I'm there! So last week my crafting twin Lisa and I gathered supplies and set to work. A while back we had seen a piece of art and our local fave "Tin Barn Market" using a vintage tin ceiling panel and some barnboard. It looked cool and rustic and caught out eye. I then remembered that at my work ( Sanctuary Paint and Decor) we had some left over faux tin panels. My boss was kind enough to donate them to the crafting cause, Lisa had stain and glue, we both had a collection of paint and then we split the cost on a few pieces of wood. We were ready to operate sorry but we do take this very seriously! Not really! Here's a quick break down. . . .
Hello guys it's time for my mid week must haves once again. What did I find this time you say? Well here we go. . . .

It's time to start looking at furnishing your deck or patio, why not pick up a colourful stool ( 59.99)or rug (39.99) from World Market. Great prices and great colours.

With Spring finally here I have been perusing the latest magazines and looking around in my local shops at what's new. I have noticed a surge of watercolour art and design. I have always been a fan of this soft, delicate form of painting and nothing says Spring like dreamy colours blurred together as opposed to heavy oils. My first find were these fab pillows from Chapters.
I also found this beautiful ottoman at Anthropologie
How about these incredible wallpapers?
Why not invite friends for a Spring tea and use these gorgeous ceramics? Or placemats for your table.
Or refreshing drinks from this glass pitcher
Also I noticed in my daughters fashion magazines great watercolour accessories and clothing. Why not pick up something and embrace the trend. I love these two pieces from Anthropologie

Recently while scrolling through Pinterest I found a great idea for my office using clipboards. One of my favourite blogs Decor8 had bought these fabric covered clipboards from House Doctor which by the way is an awesome site. She used them in her inspiring space and I loved the way it looked. I had used a clipboard for a photograph before and knew the versatility of this basic office supply! Here is my inspiration.
I bought 6 clipboards from Staples, they came in packs of 2 for about $3.99. Then I picked up 6 sheets of scrapbook paper from Michaels. They were on sale 3 for 99 cents. I did have a supply of paper at home but wanted a certain colour so it was a good excuse to buy more! I used mod podge and glued the paper down onto the boards and within minutes they were ready to hang on the wall in my office. I then added some magazine pictures of rooms I like. Check it out.
If you want to try a clipboard DIY here are some other cool ways too use them.
Yesterday was the final day of one of the worlds biggest Design Shows, held in the beautiful city of Milan,Italy. A collection of talented designers came together to celebrate their achievements and share them with the people lucky enough to attend. Italy has always been on my bucket list but so far I have not made it there, however I can admire from afar the great pieces found at this years show. I thought I would share a few of my favourites.
Just like it says "happy" colourful lighting making a statement from Delightfull.
This fabulous chair is by Beirut based design twosome Bojka. Their love of antiques combined with colour and fabulous fabrics would bring life to any home.
Spanish born designer Patricia Urquoila now living in Milan designed these felt and rushes chairs for Moroso. I love the pop of yellow and the curves.
Amazing suitcase dresser, you could even make your own version using vintage cases and paint them. This quirky design was by Maarten de Ceulaer for Nilufar.
Finally these amazing light fixtures from one of my favourite lighting designers Tom Dixon. The intricate lace like detail on the right and the colourful mercury glass inspired on the right.
Who knows maybe next year I'll make it there myself but for now I'll just drool over these works of art and dream.

Over the weekend I paid a visit to one of my regular haunts Tin Barn Market and I picked up an old wooden yardstick originally from a paint store in Toronto. I decided a while ago I would like to start a collection of them. As this is my first one for now I have put it on a small wall at the bottom of my stairs that has always needed something. Over time I will move it around when it finds some friends!
These old wooden rulers have been around forever and people have now realised how versatile they can be. Don't just use them to measure, why not try one of these great ideas?
Amazing buffet with yardstick front, great handles and display. Found here Creativespotting.com
Starburst yardstick mirror, great DIY. You could also use paint stir sticks. Found on bloggs.babble.com
Hang it up by the yard! at pinreach.com
Change it up - yardstick table top on etsy
Make your own drawer pulls. goodideasforyou.com

So how do you like that? Some great ideas, easy to do (most of them!) I'm on my way to building my new collection! Let me know if you see any yardsticks or other cool collectibles.
So here we are at mid week again already. Time flies in between my wants and needs lists! Check out what I found this week.

The Easter bunny came to our house this weekend, how about you? We had been busy baking cupcakes and making Easter cards. Spring is in the air, can you feel it? This year we decided to make some fun decorated cupcakes and some chocolate dipped strawberries with a twist! We found great recipes and ideas on the old faithful "Pinterest".
Take a look at our tasty treats. All the fancy icing work was done by my daughter who is a cupcake fanatic and she is more patient than myself! The "carrot "strawberries were easy and definitely cute don't you think?
To add to the sweets I made some sweet and simple Easter cards using on trend "neon" card. I like the pops of colour, bolder than pastels. A quick craft for adults and kids.
Happy Easter ! Check in soon for more ideas and DIY.
