In 1858 a Philadelphia tinsmith called John Mason created a jar that would be used for preserving food worldwide. It originally had a wax seal, which later evolved into the popular zinc lid. Todays mason jars no longer use zinc but still have the same design of a lid with a twist off collar. I 've used these jars over the years for a variety of projects ,some of which are unexpected but even I didn't realise how many things you can do with a simple mason jar. My latest idea was to make a soap dispenser, not an original idea I have to admit but none the less I did make it myself! I saw it on Pinterest and decided to give it a go. Voila! Here it is..... MASON JAR SOAP DISPENSERI picked up a jar for a $ in an antique barn in Nova Scotia during the summer and used a pump from an old lotion dispenser. I pierced a hole in the lid and pushed the pump through and filled it with soap. Ready to go, almost, I decided to paint the glass white to look like a porcelain finish popular right now for vases.10 Ways to use a Mason JarSo grab yourself a mason jar and be creative.
