Well it's the first day of September and it's time for students to head back to school which means , new clothes, school supplies and in some cases new rooms. In my house it's just the first two, but it's also a time for organising and refreshing just llike in the Spring. I love to sort out and clean up finding homes for all our stuff. There are so many helpful as well as decorative ideas out there to make life easier. If you have a student moving into a dorm room or you are a student yourself check out these useful solutions.
Daybead or sofa bed doing double duty.
Cabinet for important files and homework-also being used as a side table.
Peel and stick decals for those times when you are not allowed to paint-adds colour and interest. Making a space your own even if for a short time. Easily removable and in some cases can be used again.
Storage cube-space saver and extra seating
Great memo boards- chalkboard paint, create your own. Use cork tiles, add painted detail. Magnetic board-keep notes and reminders as well as pictures of friends and family.
Re-purpose furniture to use as a desk. Spray paint an old filing cabinet for added colour.
Organise your closet at home or away-make it easier to store and find things when you need them. Spray paint old hangers to add a fun touch and maybe you could colour code your clothing!
Add shelving for those important text books or something relaxing for those quiet moments.
Well loved student furniture- the milk crate ,it has many uses. (see previous post)
A dorm room is a home for several years so why not make it personal. Bring in furniture, add colour and items that mean something to you. Home away from home. . . . . .
